This week was the beginning of our actual training with the staff of Girls Inc., and each day was filled with a two- hour zoom that was full of new information that we will need over the course of the summer. The zooms could be fairly draining at times- two hours can be a long time to sit in one place to talk and learn about what were sometimes heavy topics. In addition to these live training sessions, we continued sending recruitment emails, attended our first race affinity meetings, and completed the training necessary to become official mandated reporters for the state of California. Ultimately, all of the work and daily training sessions gave me invaluable skills, especially relating to working with and teaching children, and introduced me to some amazing new people that I am extremely excited to continue working with over the summer!
