For her Ignite talk about her experience building a secondary school in Kaihura, Uganda with Duke Engineers for International Development, Zofia Chmiel P’27 won the Gratitude category in the 2024 DukeEngage Reflection Challenge.
Judges praised Chmiel’s focus on her appreciation for the new experiences, insights, and relationships that she developed through DukeEngage.

Zofia Chmiel is a mechanical engineering student in Duke University’s Pratt School of Engineering. She is a member of Duke Engineers for International Development (DEID).
