Since the volunteer concierge service project is not going as expected, I have had to adapt. Instead of focusing on strict deadlines and a cutthroat timeline, I have been doing different tasks to fill in the gaps of time. I have also chosen a leadership style where I step in if I have an opinion, but often let my mentors take the lead because they have much more experience and it is ultimately their vision that needs to be executed. It has been difficult to accept such large roadblocks and I think that I need to work on being even more patient, both with my mentors and with myself. I am proud of how accepting I have been and it’s been interesting to try out some different tasks instead. I think I have discovered that resiliency comes from patience and adaptability. You cannot be gritty and hardworking and keep going at something without being patient and adapting to different circumstances.
