Hello readers! My name is Josh Podl, and I am a Public Policy major working at HousingNOLA this summer. HousingNOLA works to implement its ten-year, multi-faceted plan that was drafted in 2015 to fix the city’s affordable housing crisis. Much of my work for this summer will involve researching two specific neighborhoods, Leonidas and Hollygrove. I will be collaborating with my co-workers and with community leaders to come up with a specific policy plan for these neighborhoods based on their assets and needs. I am very excited to work with many friendly people who are passionate about their jobs. In addition, following our orientation week that included visiting museums and touring much of the city, I can’t wait to further explore New Orleans and experience its unique and vibrant culture.
