On our project in Tablas Monte, Bolivia, four Duke students and the Bolivian community members constructed an 84-meter pedestrian bridge across the Misión Mayu river. This bridge will be essential in helping community members cross the river during the rainy season, allowing for greater access to farmlands and other destinations previously too difficult to reach. We are grateful for the eight weeks we spent learning about the engineering process, the community of Tablas Monte, a little bit of Quechua (the indigenous language), and, above all, ourselves.
