Duke senior Loren Breen (’19) honored Dr. Purnima Shah with a senior class donation as part of the Duke Annual Fund’s “Celebrating Mentors Program.”

Shah, the director and associate professor of the practice with the Dance Program at Duke University, is the faculty director of the DukeEngage program in Ahmedabad, India. She holds a Ph.D. in Performance Studies and Ethnography, with research and teaching interests in Asian theatre intersecting with ritual and performance, gender in performance, psycho-spiritual practices in devotional theatre, South Asian diaspora, and performance theory.
