My name is Lulu Wein, and I am a rising sophomore from Westchester, New York. I am exploring majors in Public Policy and Global Health and ultimately hoping to go medical school. Here in New Orleans, I am working at the American Red Cross with a team of three other DukeEngage students. One of our projects is a home fire safety campaign, which involves going out into communities to install smoke alarms and educate people about how to stay safe with regard to home fires. Our other big project is the Pillowcase Project, which is a presentation that the Red Cross gives to children to teach them about emergency preparedness. We have been trained as presenters for this project, which is sponsored by Disney, and have begun speaking to children at camps, youth groups, and other organizations in the greater New Orleans area. I have really enjoyed the opportunity to connect with New Orleanians through these projects and am looking forward to what the coming weeks will bring!
