Our long-standing community partner organization in Muhuru Bay, Kenya, has received a significant grant.

The Women’s Institute of Secondary Education & Research (WISER) has received a $20,000 grant from Newman’s Own Foundation, the independent foundation created by the late American actor and philanthropist, Paul Newman.

Newman’s Own Foundation turns all net profits and royalties from the sale of Newman’s Own products into charitable donations. To date, Paul Newman and Newman’s Own Foundation have given over $495 million to thousands of charities around the world. WISER is the latest beneficiary of the foundation’s generosity.

This exciting news comes immediately after WISER’s fourth graduation, where we celebrated the achievements of the class of 2016. An incredible 56% of these graduating WISER girls received fully-funded government scholarships to attend four-year universities this Fall.

With this grant from Newman’s Own Foundation, WISER will continue to support girls who will celebrate their own graduations in the years to come. We are thrilled to receive this support and grateful to the Newman’s Own Foundation team for helping to create positive change through WISER.
