DukeEngage alumni Margaret Overton ’20 and Avery Indermaur ’21 were recognized for ‘Outstanding Leadership in Sustainability’ by Sustainable Duke. The winners of Duke’s 2020-21 Sustainability Awards “continued working to help Duke lessen its environmental footprint while adapting to the limitations of the pandemic and embracing a more just and equitable vision of what sustainability can be.” Both participated in environmentally focused DukeEngage programs. Margaret worked with The Nature Conservancy in Portland, Oregon in 2017, and Avery worked on ecological restoration at the Limahuli National Tropical Botanical Garden in Kauai, Hawaii in 2019.
