Kate Newman (’12), a DukeEngage-Portland alum, received her NC-6 teaching license from Duke and her Masters in Education from the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill. Now, she is at the front of the classroom, a 2nd grade teacher at Triangle Day School, a private school in Durham. She has recently began integrating a new practice, mindfulness, into the daily routine of her young students.

Kate was recently featured by WRAL news in a segment that highlights the success of the practice thus far. The report speaks to the noteworthy aspects of the meditation itself, as well as the positive impact it has had on the students.
