Ashlyn Nuckols, Trinity ’18, was recently named a 2017 recipient of the Beinecke Scholarship. The award grants graduate school funding to 20 students in the country who demonstrate promise in the arts, humanities, and social sciences. Nuckols participated in DukeEngage two years ago, and traveled to Medellín, Colombia to partner with a social advocacy nonprofit, Mobility/Movilidad. Upon returning home, she received the John Hope Franklin Award for the documentary work she completed with the organization. The next year, she was able to return to the site of her DukeEngage program and produce an independent film about female leadership. With the Beinecke Scholarship, Nuckols intends to study comparative social policy at Oxford University. Nucklos continues to demonstrate a passion for the issues relevant to her service in Colombia, and DukeEngage would like to congratulate her on this incredible achievement.
