In 2011, DukeEngage made its way to the Duke campus in Beaufort, North Carolina as part of a project geared toward water quality improvements. The team was working to formulate a greater understanding of how to make a potent impact on urbanization, storm water management and ecological degradation of streams. Students participated in engineering and implementing restorative designs within watersheds, sud-basins, and
tributaries in the Neuse River Basin. Their projects spanned throughout North Carolina, starting on our very own Durham camps. These particular images depict the site of the Beaufort project, where students designed and constructed a wetland. The beauty and success area seems to illustrate the impact DukeEngage can leave on it’s community, even years later.
