Timeline for 2019-20 (summer of 2020)

Please note: Round 1 (first deadline) includes most international group programs. Round 2 (second deadline) includes U.S.-based group programs and independent projects.

 

SEPTEMBER

OCTOBER

  • 10/25 – New and continuing group programs announced, application goes live (look for a button to appear on the top of the DukeEngage website)
  • How to Apply general info sessions (dates and times)
  • Program-specific info sessions¬†(dates and times)
  • Drop-in advising¬†(dates and times)

NOVEMBER

  • 11/15 – Round 1 application deadline (most international group programs) at 12 noon EST

DECEMBER

  • 12/17 – Round 1 student acceptance notifications
  • 12/20 – Statement of Intent due from Round 1 students (by 12 noon EST)

JANUARY

  • 1/1 – Deadline for all independent project candidates to meet with a DukeEngage advisor
  • 1/14 – Round 2 application deadline (U.S.-based group programs, Russia, and independent projects) at 12 noon EST
  • 1/15-1/16 – Registration for students accepted in Round 1. Mandatory attendance during one of two days to turn in required paperwork, sign up for a Student Health appointment, apply for a visa, and communicate flight information

FEBRUARY

  • 2/14 – Round 2 student acceptance notification
  • 2/20 – Statement of Intent due from Round 2 students (by 12 noon EST)
  • Throughout – Required pre-service meetings led by program directors

MARCH

  • 3/18-3/19 – Registration for students accepted in Round 2. Mandatory attendance during one of two days to turn in required paperwork, apply for a visa (if necessary), and communicate flight information
  • Throughout – Required pre-service meetings led by program directors

APRIL

  • Throughout – Required pre-service meetings led by program directors

MAY

  • 5/5-5/6 – Fortin Foundation DukeEngage Academy (Tuesday: 8am-7:30pm and Wednesday: 8am-6:30pm): Because this training is critical to both student and program success, all DukeEngage participants must attend the full two days. If you know you cannot attend the Academy prior to your desired summer of service, please speak with an adviser before you apply because you will not be able to participate. Please note: During Academy hours on these two days, there will be no time to leave the event. Do not plan any outside appointments during the Academy. We cannot accommodate early departures for flights or other transportation. (We strongly encourage you not to book flights that depart before 10pm on Wednesday evening.)

MAY-AUG

  • DukeEngage summer programs and projects take place (eight-week minimum; travel and program dates vary)
