This summer, Nick and I will be interning at the Southern Food and Beverage Museum in the Garden District to put on 6 week long camps teaching kids 7-11 the beginnings of cooking, along with the nutrition and history of many of the food based themes we will have. Our first day, we outlined what that would look like, went over behavioral techniques to lead children, and began to lesson plan for the exciting summer ahead. We are working along three other interns, two of whom attend Tulane University and the third attends the University of Alabama, and is a dessert chef at one of the most popular restaurants in the city. Getting to work is an easy 30 minute trolley ride down St. Charles Street, and Nick and I enjoyed the relaxing and scenic trip to and from work. We are looking forward to a summer of fun leading passionate kids!
