This week I was able to sit in on a meeting with clients. This was my first client interaction and allowed me to see firsthand the people that the organization works with.

This was easily the peak of my week and really gave me a boost of motivation and excitement about the work I am doing and the community I am working with. This meeting was with a married couple hoping to gain citizenship for one spouse. They were preparing and practicing for their interview with US immigration services. It was so interesting to hear about their life story and to understand the extent of detail that is required when interviewing for citizenship. This was an excellent experience and I was really fortunate to be allowed to sit in on this meeting.

After this meeting, my supervisor explained how this couple might jeopardize their citizenship application if their story — down to the most specific detail — has discrepancies. This was very interesting and showcased the fragility of the status of immigrant populations in Miami.
