DukeEngage | Duke Center for Civic Engagement

Academy Leaders

First year of the DukeEngage ACADEMY... Come be part of this great new initiative!!!

DukeEngage immersion programs will begin with a pre-departure service retreat comprised of a series of experiential preparation workshops. The primary goal of the workshops will be to prepare participants to begin thinking about their service placements, how to best prepare for cross-cultural, logistical, and ethical challenges, as well as develop community with faculty, on the ground coordinators and fellow DukeEngage participants. The Academy will be an intensive intellectual and community-building retreat and will be facilitated by DukeEngage staff, experts from the field, faculty and DukeEngage Student Academy Leaders.

DukeEngage Student Academy Leaders are DukeEngage alumni who are interested in sharing their "lessons from the field" through panel discussions and informal conversations. Academy leaders will  facilitate activities and work with student participants as they process workshops, and finally support  the logistical needs of the Academy. We are looking for both individual and program participants as well as students that have had domestic and international placements.
