Student Involvement
Most students will become involved with DukeEngage by developing an individual project that they wish to pursue over the summer or a semester or through selection to our Student Advisory Board.
During the summer of 2008, roughly 300 students will participate in DukeEngage. That number is expected to grow to more than 1000 in the next few years.
DukeEngage programs involving students in 2007 included...
* improving education for girls in Kenya
* reuniting children with their families in Tanzania
* empowering people in India facing substance abuse and HIV/AIDS
* helping people of Yemen deal with social justice and democracy
* mentoring middle school students in Durham, NC
* assisting with rebuilding efforts in New Orleans
* teaching arts and English in Costa Rica
