I remember in French class back in high school, we listened to a song about mosquitoes. It was quite catchy and we would beg to play that song over and over again. Mosquitoes seemed cool. Ah, such naiveté.
Not so much anymore. After renovating for two days (all outdoors) I’ve somehow managed to acquire about 10 bites on my right hand, 5 on my left hand, 20 (I’m serious) on my right ankle/leg and about 10 on my left leg. They probably aren’t even mosquito bites since they’re particularly itchy and have stayed for more than a week. Most likely, these horrible bites are flea bites since they seem concentrated around my ankle and come in rows…but I’m no expert and will leave the diagnosis to Grissom.
Initially, I thought I may have bed bugs because they didn’t become red and nasty until I woke up the following morning. This of course, led to some extensive searching of my bed and clothes thanks to the wonders (and horrors) of internet information. Oh, how I curse thy power over me.
So even though mosquitoes are unlikely perpetrators this time, I’m naming my post after them because they are the quintessential culprit of bug bites.
I actually wouldn’t even care most times, except these bites are really quite horrible, or maybe I’m becoming more sensitive, but my right ankle has swelled to the point where walking and standing hurts.
The overall point of this post = bugs suck. Big Time.
