Call for nominations for 2008 Algernon Sydney Sullivan Award
The Algernon Sydney Sullivan Award recognizes one graduating senior and one member of the faculty, staff, or graduate student body of Duke University and Health System for their outstanding commitment to service.
Nominations are due by March 3, 2008.
The award recognizes and honors qualities such as selflessness, generosity of service, nobility of character, integrity, and deep spirituality. The award seeks to perpetuate the excellence of character and humanitarian service.
Nobility of character is a criterion that is defined by the Sullivan Foundation as “when one goes outside the narrow circle of self-interest and begins to spend himself for the interests of mankind.”
