Deciding to go on the DukeEngage trip was one of the best decisions I have ever made. I have learned a great deal since I have got here. My favorite part of the experience so far was getting to go to Cajamarca. Cajamarca is famous for its natural hot springs but it offers a great deal more than that. We got to go for about 3 days and it was approximately a seven hour bus ride from Trujillo. It is located up in the mountains which was a great change from the desert environment which we have stayed in at Huanchaco for the majority of the trip. In Cajamarca, I got to enjoy the hot springs and also took two hikes. The first hike was to Cumbe Mayo which is a natural rock forest up in the mountains. The rock formations were very intersting and the view was incredible. The second hike was the the Ventanas which look like windows as they are called. They were actually used as tombs. The city of Cajamarca is beautiful and has many great places to shop for souvenirs. The entire DukeEngage trip has flown by and it is unbelievable that it is almost over. I would definitely say it is one of the best experiences of my life and I hope I get similar opportunities in the future.
